These were not just precautionary methods. They knew what was going on and still allowed people, some who were at their lowest, to reside there.
Project Transition needs to stop operating. Maybe at one point they were doing good things, but now they are just operating under the facade of a wellness organization. They are allowing their participants to use their insurance, and some, their money, to live in conditions that are not habitable. They make their participants feel as though this is all they deserve.
They moved a person in my program from their apartment to a less infested room in a different building because they had medical issues. Even though the whole program had bugs, they only treated one room while I was there. I had to get rid of all of my belongings, including brand new clothes the staff encouraged me to buy before I realized there was an infestation in all of the programs.
Staff members would literally wear different clothing to work, some with their socks rolled up over their pants. Staff members would also spray down the furniture and themselves with rubbing alcohol (which supposedly kills bed bugs).
If I could give Project Transition zero stars, I would. They moved me into not one, but two, bed bug infested apartments. I literally saw them crawling on my bed, couch, and myself. When they moved me out of that apartment into a more supportive program, every building in the program was infested with bed bugs. I had bites.
If you are reading this and considering Project Transition, you deserve better.
